ARDROSSAN Civic Centre will be getting a £50,000 facelift - with brand new windows.
The popular centre, which is used for parties, weddings and everything in between, will get new windows after North Ayrshire Council’s Cabinet gave it the green light yesterday (Tuesday) and the money will be used from the Ardrossan Common Good Fund which it contributes almost £40,000 a year to.
Estimated to cost around £50,000, the repairs are needed following water damage and a number of repairs over the past few years.
These are no longer economically viable with replacement being the only alternative due to the deterioration of the windows.
Cabinet agreed to a full window replacement to replace the timber framed, sash and case windows and other associated ancillary works to the old building.
These works would also improve the overall condition of the property and improve thermal efficiency.
The Civic Centre is the second-highest used community facility within the whole of North Ayrshire and brings in £38,500 in rent every year.
The contract will go out to tender in the near future but it is unclear at this stage how long the centre would be closed during the replacement phase.
This work aligns to the council’s strategic priority of “Protecting and enhancing the environment for future generations”.
