DRAMATIC drone footage shows the extent of a fire that took over much of the park next to Auchenharvie Academy on Saturday afternoon.
James Clark captured the video which shows just how quickly the fire spread on the overgrown field but police have confirmed that they are not treating the incident as malicious.
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 3.54pm on Saturday, July 13 to reports of a grass fire in Stevenston.
"Operations Control mobilised three fire engines to the town's Boglemart Street, where firefighters were met by a large fire in the open.
"Firefighters extinguished the fire and left the scene after ensuring the area had been made safe.
"There were no casualties."
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "At 4.59pm on Saturday, July 13, police attended the report of a grass fire at the playing fields adjacent to Auchenharvie Academy.
"Scottish Fire and Rescue personnel were also in attendance and dealt with the incident as such given there was no evidence of a malicious or wilful act."
