A children’s group paid a touching visit to an Ardrossan hero’s memorial in the lead up to Remembrance Sunday.
The Wacky Youth Club visited the stone commemorating Corporal William Savage at Stanley Primary School.
The kids from the Whitlees Centre group usually place poppies in Ardrossan Cemetery around the time of Armistice Day. But this year, they went to Corporal Savage’s memorial where they laid a wreath to honour those who have given their lives in conflict.
A spokesperson from the Whitlees Centre said: “The Wacky Youth Club each year go to the cemetery to place poppies, but this year we went to the memorial of William Savage at Stanley School. The kids placed a wreath for Remembrance Day. Well done kids.”
The memorial stone to Corporal Savage was unveiled in September at his old school.
Corporal Savage was killed in a roadside bomb in Afghanistan along with his two comrades on April 30, 2013.
