Yes supporters on Arran were prevented from attending the All Under One Banner March in Glasgow on Saturday after adverse weather conditions caused ferries to be cancelled.
But undeterred, independence supporters decided to hold their own rally.
Colin Turbett was among those who took part. “A few of us came up with the idea of a wee gathering on Arran when we realised on Friday that there would be no sailings in the morning due to the weather”, Colin said.
“It turned out really well despite the lashing rain. About thirty of us gathered and then marched along the seafront”, he continued. “It was a very unified group: local SNP members including our councillor Ellen McMaster, Scottish Socialist Party, CND supporters, trade unionists and others.”
“We were all so pleased to have done something even if it was a bit like the New Year dook!”
