A GLITTERING array of successes were secured by North Ayrshire Table Tennis Club on the national stage.
They competed in the National Championships in Perth on Saturday and Sunday and brought home a record amount of medals and national titles, with Martin Johnson winning the Junior Boys National title to add to last year’s Junior British title
Former Auchenharvie Academy pupil Martin Johnson played his best table tennis to reach the semi-finals of the Men’s Singles event where he lost to Scottish number one and 14-time champion Gavin Rumgay.
Number seven seed and club coach Chris Main reached the quarter-finals of the Men’s Singles, losing to eventual winner Colin Dalgleish.
Jamie Johnson and Ryan Henry lost in the last 16 of the Men’s Singles
Chris Main and Holly McNamara made the final of the Mixed Doubles, four- time winners Colin Dalgleish and Rebecca Plaistow proved too strong.
Martin Johnson and partner Danny Bajwa won the Men’s Doubles for the first time and retained the Junior Boys Doubles.
In the U15 Boys singles, Nathan Hogg, the Scottish number three reached the semi-final with two fine wins over two top Aberdeen players.
Chad Duncan and Nathan Hogg made the semi -finals of the Junior Boys Doubles.
West Kilbride’s Jess Hogg reached the semi- finals of both the U15 girls and the U18 girls.
Holly McNamara narrowly lost in the group stages of the junior girls.
Holly and Jess lost in four sets to the top seeds from Glasgow in the junior girls doubles final.
Martin Johnson also won the Junior Boys title on the Sunday.
