A Three Towns GP and pharmacy has closed for a 'deep clean' after an outbreak of coronavirus.
A 'small number' of people are being contacted by Test and Protect after the virus was confirmed at Saltcoats Group Practice.
Patients have been called to have appointments cancelled while the health centre and pharmacy closes for a 'deep clean'.
Lynne McNiven, Joint Director of Public Health, said: “NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Test & Protect team is conducting contact tracing within Saltcoats Group Practice in North Ayrshire.
"A small number of individuals are being contacted by the Test and Protect team and told to self-isolate at home for 14 days.
"Saltcoats Group Practice has physical distancing and hygiene processes in place to minimise the risk of viral spread and to support Test and Protect. While the risk to the public is considered low, the medical practice will close for a short period to allow a deep clean. The pharmacy within the health centre will also close for a short period.
"All relevant Public Health measures are in place and our Public Health Team is working with North Ayrshire Environmental Health Officers to manage and monitor the situation.
"To respect and maintain patient confidentiality it is not possible to release any further information at this time.
"We would like to remind people of the symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19): new persistent cough; high temperature; and / or loss of taste and smell. Anyone who develops any of these symptoms should book a test and self-isolate immediately."
