PART of Saltcoats Station’s land is being sold at an online auction today with a sale price of between £575,000 and £600,000.
Agents Acuitus describe it as comprising of: “Plots at the railway station, let to Network Rail Infrastructure with 155 years remaining, no breaks and annual RPI-linked rental increases.
“The investment currently produces an annual rent of £18,475.”
Mhairi Archibald of Acuitus explained: “The plots of land at Saltcoats Station offer an excellent ground rent investment opportunity, with no further investment commitment required.
“It presents a rare opportunity to invest into an alternative while the market remains somewhat unpredictable”.
The auction is set to take place this Thursday, February 11 at 2pm via Acuitus.co.uk.
Saltcoats Railway Station is also set for a new development with a half million pound project to transform a derelict building into a multi-functional space for the community.
The new Shibumi Karate Club will move into part of the building, which has been used as a salt store.
The club has has received almost £500,000 in funding, including £83,300 from ScotRail’s Station Community Regeneration Funding (SCRF), £131,711 from the Railway Heritage Trust, £50,000 from North Ayrshire Council’s Community Investment Fund, and £76,000 from Sport Scotland.
Hilary Cameron, Head of Rail Franchise Unit at Transport Scotland, said: “The Stations Community Regeneration Fund is a prime example of how targeted investment to regenerate empty station buildings can help stimulate economic growth while bringing local benefits.”
