The Ardrossan to Campbeltown ferry service is to be broken up by a stop on Arran to accommodate travellers to the island on peak days.
The new timetable, which CalMac announced yesterday, will see extra journeys from Ardrossan to Brodick on Thursdays and Fridays from June 2 until August 29.
The Campbeltown ferry will depart Ardrossan on Thursdays and Fridays at 4.45pm, stopping off at Brodick en route and will come back the following day along the same route at 6.45am on the Friday morning and at 7am on the Saturday morning.
The timetable changes are the result of a community consultation carried out by CalMac with people in the local area.
A CalMac spokesperson said: "Following consultation with communities, we have introduced a peak period on the Ardrossan-Campbeltown service from June 3 - August 29. This will see additional stop overs at Brodick on Thursday and Fridays.
"Please note we are in the process of contacting all customers with an existing booking and will be in touch shortly."
