ARDROSSAN Academicals ladies rugby coach, 21-year-old Shelley Main, beat off competition to win the Young Person’s Award at the Scottish Rugby Council’s online ceremony last week.
Shelley was credited for “spending the whole of the pandemic” encouraging female players, old and new, to get into rugby through virtual and outdoor training. Her motivational spirit, even more remarkable, as she still gave much energy to encourage local women to try rugby, whilst grieving the loss of her father who sadly passed away during lockdown.
The club described Shelley as “inspirational to young and old” and explained that they “wouldn’t have a team without her”.
Training takes place on Tuesday from 7pm until 8.30pm at Ardrossan Accies and that all women no matter what their experience or fitness levels are welcome.
