WORK has started on giving Saltcoats Tennis Courts a makeover as Wimbledon fever hits the town.

Councillor Jim Montgomerie secured £9,000 from North Ayrshire Council to paint the lines and while he admits it won’t be enough for a complete makeover it should help players.

Now the painting of the lines has been carried out and Jim said: “I was asked if I could get the courts lines but when I looked at the courts it was clear that they need totally painted.

“I asked the council to do this and after a bit of toing and froing it was agreed they would do the work which is fantastic as the courts are busy, especially during the lighter nights.”
