Some very lucky kayakers were treated to a wonderful display by a pod of dolphins on Arran last week.
The moment the pair were given a front-row seat for the aquatic spectacle was captured on camera by holidaymaker Pete Owen, who was visiting the island with his wife.
The man had initially been on the lookout for otters at the spot near Kildonan a day previous and decided to return in the hope of catching a glimpse of them - but it seems he got more than he bargained for.
Pete explained: "Me and my wife were over on Arran for a weeks holiday, we were staying just up the road at seal shore campsite. The night before seeing the dolphins, we went for a walk along the road and we thought we could see some otters out in the sea (it was almost dark, so we weren't sure) so we went back the next night to see if they were there again, and they were.
"I was trying to get some photos of them, but they were too far away then we suddenly noticed a pod of dolphins in front of Pladda Island. They were jumping right out of the water. There were at least six or eight of them.
"Then we noticed the kayak in the path of the dolphins. Soon the dolphins were right by the kayak and they seemed to be playing around them, jumping right out of the water!"
He added: "I did eventually get a few pics of the otters too, as they ran back up the beach."
