Kilwinning Rangers manager Chris Strain says he was delighted with his team’s performance and victory over Troon.
The Buffs claimed a convincing 3-0 victory on the opening day of the WOSFL season, thanks to goals from Thomas Collins, Carlo Monti and Jordan Stuart.
The home side dominated to opening of the game with some good chances, and eventually made the pressure pay as a stunning Collins header made it 1-0 on 37 minutes.
Troon responded well with a couple of good chances of their own. Unable to make the them count, they were made to pay when Monti unleashed a thunderous strike from the edge of the box to make it 2-0 just before the break.
Both sides had chances in the second half, but it was Stuart who thundered in a header from a
corner to wrap up the win for the hosts.
Manager Chris Strain was delighted with the win, but says there are still plenty of area to improve on, adding: “It was a great result and performance from the boys. They did themselves justice after a while away from league action.
“There are always things you can look to improve on after a game, and that’s exactly what we plan to do.
“We’ve had a good result, but it’s only the first game of the season, so we must make sure we take the confidence into Wednesday’s game with Kilbirnie and start to build some momentum”.
