Winton Rovers manager Stevie Wilson says his side must be more clinical moving forward after being held to a goalless draw with Vale of Leven at Winton Park on Saturday.
The West of Scotland Football League campaign got underway in Ardrossan in stunning weather conditions and it was the home side who dominated the game and looked defensively sound.
Despite the pressure, Rovers were unable to find the breakthrough and had to settle for a draw in the end to begin their league season.
Manager Wilson said: “We’ve dominated the game and I think our keeper has had to make one save from distance which is obviously a positive.
“It’s disappointing not to win a home game that we should’ve won but we’ll learn from that.
“Credit to Vale of Leven who are a good side who worked their back sides off as well.
“We’ve got a point, which is more than what we had before today.
“There were loads of positives and our fitness levels looked really good.
“It’s going to be a case of working over our next few training sessions on crossing and finishing”.
The Winton are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Glasgow to take on Vale of Clyde.
