A FORMER West Kilbride man and his wife celebrated 60 happy years of marriage recently.

Thomas Jamieson spent his childhood in the North Ayrshire village but now lives in Queensland, Australia, with his wife Dorice.

The couple celebrated on Thursday, August 5 and were delighted to receive a card from Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

Dorice grew up on the Phosphate Isle of Makatea in French Polynesia and the couple tied the knot back in 1961 on New Zealand’s South Island.
