The Met office warned Scots to brace themselves for snow, high winds and transport disruption when the warning that covered nearly all of Scotland was issued on Monday.
The yellow weather warning for most of the country is in place from this morning [Tuesday, December 7] until Saturday at 6pm.
Storm Barra is not expected to be as severe as Storm Arwen from two weeks ago but gusts could peak at 70mph along the coast off the Irish Sea and North Channel.
Other areas could see wind speeds between 40 and 50mph.
Some short-term loss of power and other services is possible, the Met Office warned.
