ARDROSSAN residents and businesses are being asked to share their views on initial community designs developed to make the town more accessible for walking, cycling and wheeling.

Initial designs for the Ardrossan Connections project have been developed following successful community engagement events and activities earlier this year.

The project is being delivered by Sustrans Scotland, in partnership with North Ayrshire Council and Ardrossan Community Development Trust.

The aim of the designs is to improve the experience of everyone that walks, cycles or wheels along National Cycle Network routes through Ardrossan.

Local people are being asked to give their feedback on the designs, so they can help to shape a more accessible, safe and welcoming centre of Ardrossan for residents, businesses and visitors.

Eilidh Russell, Project Lead, Sustrans Scotland said: “So far we’ve been delighted with the amount of feedback and ideas shared by the community at our design workshops and other events.

“People are keen to see improvements to make the area more accessible and safe for walking, cycling and wheeling. Others have highlighted how important it is to make the area more welcoming and tell the story of Ardrossan’s history and heritage.”

Councillor Joe Cullinane, Leader of North Ayrshire Council, said: “Active and sustainable travel is an important component so making our towns safe, attractive and easily accessible is a big part of this.

"We are excited by the proposals for Ardrossan and are keen for input from local residents which will help us take them forward.”
