A NORTH Ayrshire school and leisure centre complex will reopen tomorrow (Tuesday) having being closed to pupils following a fire over the weekend.
A message received by parents on Monday from North Ayrshire Council's education team said that Garnock Community Campus in Beith would be shut after a minor electrical fire on Sunday which activated the sprinkler system.
The notice read: "The small fire was contained and successfully extinguished.
"Unfortunately, it will be necessary for the campus to remain closed today to allow full safety checks to take place and to ensure all of our systems are operating normally.
"Further information about remote learning arrangements will be issued by the school later this morning.
"We would ask that you do not try to phone the school as the telephone lines are currently down.
"We apologise for the inevitable inconvenience this situation will cause.
"We will keep you updated through electronic communications and will reopen the campus as soon as possible."
An update shared later on Monday said: "I am pleased to inform you that Garnock Community Campus will open to all pupils again tomorrow morning (Tuesday, February 22) as normal.
"I am grateful for your support and understanding throughout this challenging situation.
"The extent of the damage has been minimised and we will be able to reopen with little impact on our young people."
