North Ayrshire Council have granted planning permission for Ardrossan based bus company Coast to Coast Travel to erect a new depot in the town.
However, certain conditions must be met before building work can take place.
The industrial building will be situated at the site to the north east of the Ardrossan bus depot on Harbour Road.
Though, as has been seen on similar sites in the area, remediation work must first take place.
The conditions for the building, as is detailed on planning documents states: “Prior to commencement of the development a desk study of likely contamination, with site investigation and remediation proposals if required, shall be submitted to the council, as planning authority, for approval.
“Any study shall be verified by a suitably qualified environmental consultant.
"Any works propose by an agreed study shall be undertaken prior to the completion of the development and the details submitted to the council.”
The reasoning for this is stated as: “To ensure potential contamination is adequately assessed and to meet the requirements of environmental health.”
This council decision was confirmed last month.
