A WOMAN has been reported by police after a badger was reportedly mauled to death in Ardrossan.
The animal is believed to have been attacked by at least one dog in the Elm Park area of the town earlier this month.
The Scottish SPCA told the Herald they had no reports of the incident on their system, while the Ayrshire branch of the Scottish Badgers charity said they were aware of the incident but had had no contact with police so far.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.40pm on Wednesday, March 16, police were called to the Elm Park area of Ardrossan following the discovery of a dead badger.
“Enquiries were carried out and we can confirm that a 29-year-old woman has been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with the matter.”
