TWO BUSINESSES based in West Kilbride have walked away with prizes from the ‘Confetti Wedding Awards 2022’.
The Waterside in received recognition for its work as a wedding venue while independent baker ‘Cake Halliday’ was rewarded for her design qualities.
In previous years, customers would be asked to ‘nominate’ registered businesses, before a list of finalists were decided.
These businesses were then visited and judged by industry experts.
This year, however, the decision was completely in the hands of a panel of industry specialist judges, assembled by the awards team.
Each award category had one overall winner, with close runners-up being rewarded with a ‘highly recommended’ title.
The Waterside Hotel was considered highly recommended in the ‘best wedding venue under £6,000’ category.
A spokesperson for the hotel, who attended the event said: “Thank you to everyone. It was great to see so many wonderful wedding suppliers all back together for a big celebration after a turbulent couple of years.”
And in the ‘best cake design’ category, the village had an overall winner, as Caroline Halliday, owner of ‘Cake Halliday’, took the overall prize, pipping three highly recommended businesses to the title.
Owner Caroline was ecstatic with the award, commenting: “It was amazing to be nominated even as a finalist, but to be awarded the actual winner’s trophy for Best Cake Designer absolutely blew me away!
"I most definitely was not expecting this!
“Huge thanks to the Confetti Awards and to every one of my amazing customers, you are all epic!”
She also shared the story of how she very nearly didn’t attend the event at all.
She said: “A very big thank you to my lovely friend Sonya Hughes for convincing me to go to the awards and for coming with me, driving, no less and being the cheering squad.
“Sonya you are awesome, along with my other good friends and family who are always there behind the scenes keeping the faith.”
Other Ayrshire winners included Alan Anderson, and Ayrshire based bagpiper and Troon salon ‘The Works’ who were both highly recommended in their respective categories of ‘best piper’ and ‘best hair salon’.
Congrats to all!
