There has been a serious incident on the A737 leading to the hospitalisation of a man and a woman.
Police are currently on the scene directing traffic away from the area.
The road is closed both ways between the Clerksbridge Toll Roundabout and Roadhead Roundabout following the incident earlier today that involved two vehicles.
The road has been shut since just before 3pm.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a two vehicle crash on the A737 at Beith around 2pm on Sunday 24 April 2022.
“A man has been taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock and a woman has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
“Officers are still at the scene and enquiries are continuing.”
