AN AMAZING week all round for the North Ayrshire Ice Hockey Club was capped off by two of their players representing their national side in a tournament against two English sides.
While back at their home rink, the club hosted a successful first weekend of their Ronnie Miller Memorial Tournament at Auchenharvie ice rink.
Lewis McCrindle (under 17s) from Ayr and Flynn Massie (under 15s) from Ardrossan both represented Scotland at the national matches played in Dumfries last weekend.
The pair had been training monthly at the national camps in Dundee, and made their way through the selection process to compete against England North and South sides.
The players were pushed to their limits, facing off against some of the finest players in the UK.
Lewis’s under 17 side ran out overall winners from the two days playing, and both youngsters performed admirably, proving to be an absolute credit to their club.
North Ayrshire Ice will have another two players representing Scotland this coming weekend at under 13s level, while Lewis and Flynn will return home to take part in the second weekend of the Ronnie Miller Memorial Tournament.
This weekend’s play at Auchenharvie saw some brilliant performances in the tournament renamed following the the passing of the much loved , influential and respected former chairman of the club.
Games took place in the under 12 and under 16 age groups, with Ayrshire’s sides competing tremendously.
In the under 12s tournament, both the North Ayrshire Penguins and Ayr Bruins making the semi final stage, though the two teams both unfortunately lost out in their last four matches.
However, the under 16s North Ayrshire Predators went one stage further, making the final of their respective tournament.
They defeated Lanarkshire Lightning in the semi-final stage before falling to an unfortunate defeat at the hands of the Fife Flames.
The club wanted to extend a massive thank you goes out to every single person that volunteers at these events and ensured the tournament ran smoothly, with more of the same expected this weekend!
