ARDROSSAN Academicals RFC put on a show in more ways than one last Saturday, June 18, as they held their real ale and music festival just after their annual young versus old rugby match.
The rugby match kicked off at 1pm, with weather conditions perfect for rugby, with the exception of the strong breeze at the Memorial Field.
The game provided a very rare opportunity to see the youngsters emerge victorious, as they ran out 22-12 winners in the match - their first victory in 22 years in the annual match.
It was also the first time the match would precede the real ale and music festival, as typically this game would take place on New Year's Day - which might explain why the young side performed better than usual!
The real ales began flowing, and the music playing, at 5pm as revellers got into position in the club's marquee.
The Railwaymen opened the show and they were followed by Red Velvet, Oceanview, The Notions, Verces, while the mod-inspired The Bandits closed the show.
Bands were provided by Ellis Studios in Irvine, and all Ayrshire based with the exception of one who came in as a late replacement.
All the bands put on a fantastic show inspiring a number of the audience to don their dancing shoes.
In the main hall the real ale bar was one of three and was the centre of attention with a variety of ales to choose from.
Despite the colder weather later in the evening the event was well attended.
