STANLEY Primary said a sad farewell to their P7 pupils last week - as well as a very special member of staff.
The whole school gathered for a celebration of the school leavers, including much-loved teacher Jim Hughes, who retired on the same day.
And he even got a lap of honour around the school accompanied by a pipe band.
The school said on Twitter: “Our P7 leavers on their final exit of Stanley. Always believe in yourself and be the best version of yourself. Team Stanley are so proud of you all.”
They added: “No words can describe how much the staff are going to miss Mr Hughes. He has been our supporter, our leader, our rock, our mentor, our inspiration and so much more. Thank you for all you have given Stanley. We wish you all the very best in your retirement.
“We couldn’t send Mr Hughes off without a ‘lap of honour’ around his beloved Stanley. It was even more special having the school community turn out in force to show their appreciation and for our previous pupils and a P7 leaver to be a part of the band.”
