A SALTCOATS student rubbed shoulders with royalty recently as she received her gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Amy Park spent the day at Holyrood Palace in the capital on July 1 as she was presented with her award by the Earl of Forfar, HRH Prince Edward.
Amy finished her final expedition the week the UK went into its first lockdown, when her group left to go on a five-day expedition in Dumfries and returned to find out that their final year at school was over, and prom and exams were cancelled.
The former Caledonia Primary and Ardrossan Academy pupil achieved her modern apprenticeship in social care and has been accepted to study nursing at university, with the aim of eventually becoming a midwife.
