JIM Miller, Kilwinning’s 'Matchstick Man', recently presented his 100th church model.
The model was handed over to the Minister and Congregation of West Mearns Church up in Fettercairn, Aberdeenshire.
This model was made specially for Rev Douglas Lamb who was the Minister of St. Margaret’s Church, Dalry for many years, retiring in 2002 to live in Aberdeenshire.
Jim told how his “favourite model has to be St. Margaret’s Church in Dalry” where he was Christened on Christmas Day in 1949, and married on October 18, 1974.
Douglas contacted Jim about three years ago asking if he could build a model.
However, the pandemic hit the world and delayed things for a while.
Last year Jim and his wife, Janet, visited Fettercairn when photographs and measurements were taken and the model that was duly built was presented on June 12 this year.
Jim’s hobby has now lasted for 27 years, with 95 church models being in Scotland, four in Wales and one in Ahrensfelde, Berlin, Germany.
