IT was a superb couple of days earlier this month, as Ardrossan Winton Rovers Women hosted their first ever summer festival/tournament.
The event was held across Saturday and Sunday, July 2/3, with well over 500 girls attending over the two days, having a great time playing football.
The tournament saw teams from under 8, 10, 12 and 14s level competing at Jack’s Park in Saltcoats on Saturday, before the under 14s returned on Sunday for ‘finals day’ at Winton Park. Games were played at four, five, seven and 11-a-side levels.
Teams competed for two pieces of silverware, the Winton Cup and Winton Plate. The victors in the first ever plate competition were Houston United, while the main event was taken home by Glasgow City FC Orange.
A Winton Rovers Women spokesperson said: “Over the weekend we saw loads of great football from all of the girls that came down and there were loads of happy, tired faces, the players, coaches and parents, so all be proud of the girls.”
