A POPULAR Ardrossan store, which was a regular haunt for locals looking for breakfast and lunch snacks, has closed its doors for the last time.
South Beach Stores, on South Beach Road, the opposite side of the hill from the train station, announced on August 6 that the following day would be their last.
The owners stated that regretfully: “Rising running costs and costs of supplies skyrocketing gave us no choice but to pull the shutters down for the last time.”
They continued: “We would like to thank all our loyal customers for the support over the last three-and-a-half years.
“We have given it our all, especially with what the world has thrown at us over this period.
“Thank you to our members of staff, we wouldn’t have got through the past few years without your hard work!”
The store was also popular with Ardrossan Academy pupils as a regular lunch stop. It will certainly be missed, with hundreds of locals expressing how much they enjoyed their visits to South Beach Stores.
One gutted local said: “You stepped up during the lockdowns to help the community. Your shop and yourselves will be greatly missed. Good luck for the future.”
