The A78 shore road connecting Ardrossan to West Kilbride was closed yesterday following an accident.
The road has since re-opened for use.
The Herald first heard these reports at around 3.30pm yesterday, August 11, which police confirmed later in the evening.
The incident took place on the area of Eglinton Road adjacent to the Rowan Tree Restuarant.
Those heading in that direction said they were being turned away from the road towards a diversion.
Police confirmed that the crash which they sesponded to involved a pedestrian and a car, though no update was given on anyone involved.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 3pm on Thursday, 11 August, 2022, we received a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on the A78, North Shore Road, Ardrossan, outside the Rowan Tree Garden Centre.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
