A HOTEL in West Kilbride has been voted as Ayrshire's best boutique stay at a national awards ceremony.
The Seamill House Hotel, situated on Ardrossan Road, first opened in late 2017, after a revamp to the former Merrick Hotel, or the Inverclyde going even further back.
Having won a few other awards in the past, the latest accolade for the nine roomed venue was to be crowned the 'Best Luxury Boutique Ayrshire' at the Best of British Getaways Awards 2022.
The hotel consists of three different components: a dog-friendly and more relaxed bar area, a dining area with bay windows across the back perimeter which offer stunning views across the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran, and nine rooms for overnight stays. These include three suites, all with balconies with views across to Arran, and six standard rooms, one of which is designed for disability access.
The hotel also caters to specific events/functions, and has two dedicated function rooms available.
Like so many hospitality businesses, it has been a hard last two years, battling back through Covid lockdowns, and increased restrictions.
However, the hotel's general manager Dan Rant says his staff have been a credit, and that their impressive comeback is all down to their hard work.
He said: "After the uncertainty and tribulations of Covid, it is great to see off thousands of nominees to scoop such an award.
"After all, it is down to all of the team at SHH. Those that serve, cook and clean for our guests.
"Its a monumental effort across the board, and their pride in the award is well deserved.
"We stand apart from others by giving a genuine, personal service."
The hard work doesn't stop now though, and Dan says they are already looking at ways to keep things fresh and improving.
He commented: "We'll be launching a new menu in September, with some exciting new additions, as well as retaining and improving some older favourites."
However, the general manager still remains cautious that further hardships may be on the horizon for businesses like the Seamill House Hotel.
Just like those visiting the establishment, they are also expecting to continue to be hit hard by the cost of living crisis.
Dan added: "Let's just hope that common sense prevails and the government step in and address the greed of the energy companies, which is crippling every day life for people from all walks of life before it's too late."
