KILWINNING Rangers boss David Gormley couldn’t hide his delight after his side’s exceptional Scottish Cup win.
The Buffs came from 2-0 down to defeat Lowland League side Tranent Juniors 4-2 in the Scottish Cup first round tie.
Speaking to Kilwinning Rangers TV (KRTV), boss Gormley was grinning from ear to ear as he said “everything clicked” and that “the boys were bang at it”.
It wasn’t all plain sailing though, as Colin Nish’s Tranent side raced into a two goal lead thanks to goals from Shaun Rutherford and a Ben Miller penalty.
But back came the Buffs, who were level before half time thanks to a Mark Lamont volley then Dylan Mackin’s first penalty of the afternoon.
They then put the game beyond their east coast visitors before the hour mark with a Keiren Wood finish and another Mackin penalty.
Boss Gormley told KRTV: “It felt absolutely tremendous, it’s a tough tie for us, they’re a very good team, I’m just buzzing.”
Kilwinning Rangers will now face League Two side Forfar Athletic at home in the second round, which will be played on the weekend of October 22.
