THREE Towns residents have been invited to have a go at curling after the success of Team GB at last year’s Beijing Winter Olympics.
Ardrossan Castle Curling Club was founded in the area almost 185 years ago, in 1838, but over the past few years has seen its squad numbers dwindle to only 22 playing members.
The club is now launching a drive to recruit new members off the back of Team GB’s success in China, where the men’s team picked up the silver medal and the women’s team won gold.
Alex Blair, from Ardrossan Castle Curling Club, said: “We had a great response to the ‘Come and Try’ event we ran in March. However, we are still keen to recruit more new members.
“We are having another informal ‘Come and Try’ evening on Monday, September 26 at 6.30pm in Harvie’s Ice Rink [Auchenharvie Leisure Centre, Stevenston].
“We intend following this with several evenings of friendly tutorials, where individuals can come along and experience the full competitive game for half the price of a normal session.”
