IT was a day to remember for some of West Kilbride Golf Club’s junior golfers, as they wrote their names into the history books.
Last month they claimed this year's Ayrshire Junior Golf League crown with a victory in the final over Irvine Golf Club (often known as Bogside).
The final was played at Loudon Golf Club, and proved to be a real nail-biter, with the narrowest of margins deciding the winners.
Teams face other junior sections from across Ayrshire in a league format throughout the season, in a quest to reach this final stage.
All matches are played with each club putting forward a team of six, who play singles matchplay games.
Each match is worth one point, a full point to whichever team’s player wins the game, or a half point each if the match ends all square.
The two teams couldn’t be separated in the September 18 final, with the total scores ending 3-3, however, West Kilbride were crowned champions, virtue of a countback over the six ties, by a score of 22-10.
