MOORPARK Golf Club, based in Stevenston, had a unique double title success to celebrate last month, after dominating in two of Ayrshire golf’s club-wide events.
Their title quest began with the Ayrshire handicap league, which is contested throughout the summer months in a league format, before being narrowed down to the final two teams.
Moorpark were reigning champions of this competition, and faced Rowallan Castle in a tightly fought final at Largs Golf Club. It was a repeat of the 2021 final of this same event.
Six singles ties were played, with each match worth one point (full point for a win and a half each if the match ends all square), however, the sides could not be separated.
The total score ended 3-3, meaning the title destination would be decided on a countback of all six matches. It was Moorpark who came out on top, 32-18, to retain their title.
Their second tournament win came in the President’s Putter competition, played versus West Kilbride at Loudon Gowf Club.
There were three matches played in this final, two singles ties and one foursomes match, with each game worth one point.
It was a comfortable victory for Moorpark this time round, as they won all three games to secure the trophy - their second in a matter of weeks.
