A Three Towns man caught with a potato peeler was placed under supervision for carrying an offensive weapon.
Leon Thomson, 20, was caught in possession of the potato peeler in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse on September 14 this year at Guthrie Road, Saltcoats.
Thompson, himself of Guthrie Road, pleaded guilty to the offensive weapon charge when he appeared in Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.
When he was sentenced this week [October 12] he was placed on a community payback order and will be under supervision for 12 months.
