A GOLFER from Ardrossan has claimed the biggest prize in Ayrshire junior (under 18) club golf - being crowned ‘champion of champions’.
The contest is competed amongst the junior club championship winners from each golf club in Ayrshire.
Sam, who is the champion at West Kilbride Golf Club, overcame Royal Troon’s Harvey Broadfoot in a closely contested match played at Prestwick St Cuthbert’s.
The former Ardrossan Academy pupil raced into an early lead, and remained so despite his opponent's best efforts at a comeback in the closing stages.
Broadfoot got to within a hole in the matchplay game with three to play, but consecutive pars was enough for Sam to earn 2&1 victory and take home the most coveted of trophies.
