Three South Ayrshire restaurants have been named in 2023's AA Restaurant Guide and have been awarded rosettes for their cooking ability and general atmosphere.
Rosettes are awarded based on the inspector's determination on the day of their visit as well as national AA guidelines for scoring.
The yearly honour features three restaurants spanning South Ayrshire, including one eatery south of Girvan which accomplished an astonishing three rosettes.
Every South Ayrshire establishment featured in the guide was awarded at least one rosette.

Fairfield House Hotel

Food style: Modern, Traditional
With stunning views of the Isle of Arran, the Fairfield House Hotel offers rooms as well as contemporary cooking from its bar and grill.
The eatery was praised by inspectors for its food made from "Pedigree local produce" vital for "dishes like breast of duck, black cabbage, plum, potatoes and redcurrant jus."

Walkers Lounge

Food Style: Traditional Scottish
Piersland House is described as "a delightful, historic hotel" that is a "comfortable, elegant setting for classic, traditional dining."
AA suggests that those coming here to dine should "begin with something simple – warming vegetable soup, perhaps – before moving on to a main course of enticingly presented poached fillet of sole, served with a cheese and leek glaze."

Glenapp Castle

Food style: Modern, Traditional
Awarded three rosettes, meaning it is an "outstanding restaurant," demanding "national recognition," Glenapp Castle impressed with its dramatic setting and splendid grounds.
Judges were quick to note the site's "sense of grandeur" thanks to its "high ceilings and tables clothed in crisp linen."
On the food side of things, it was noted that Glenapp's "daily-changing menu" was "timeless, with simple, elegant compositions designed to showcase the top-quality ingredients"
