THE owners of a Saltcoats restaurant have unveiled plans to improve the premises' takeaway service.
Curry on the Corner first opened to the public in December of 2021 following a change in ownership the previous year.
In that same year, 2020, a fire broke out in the 'takeaway' section of the venue - which has remained closed ever since.
Now the onwer, Mr Jagdeep Sandhu, plans to resurrect this area of the restaurant.
The Jacks Road eatery, which specialises in Indian food, does already offer takeaway meals as well as dining in - though this mainly operates from the same facilities.
Now they are looking to separate these aspects of the business properly - opening up a new entrance to the takeaway area, away from the main front door.
Operating in a cafe-like style, there would also be a sit in area to the takeaway.
A formal planning application has been lodged with North Ayrshire Council for permission to carry out the work.
Documents lodged in support of the plans, which also include a small extension to the kitchen, further detail the plans for this section.
They state: "The proposal consists of a small extension to the existing kitchen to accommodate larger workspace internally, elevational changes to windows to provide a more attractive seating location within the coffee bar/takeaway area.
"A new pedestrian access off High Road will allow entry to this part without walking around the building and car park.
"The existing car park will remain and provide a collection point for delivery drivers."
Plans further detail why they have decided to divide the two areas of the business.
They add: "Internally it is proposed to subdivide the coffee/takeaway to allow different operating hours and staffing.
"Toilet provision for customers and staff are also provided separately to allow operations on different timescales."
While the also cover what style of food would be on offer in the takeaway section - which is far from what is offered by the restaurant typically.
Plans state: "The menu proposed will consist of waffles, crepes, pancakes, burgers, hot food, ice cream, tea, coffee, cold drinks both alcoholic and soft."
They also add that there are no similar facilities within half a kilometre of their premises.
It is proposed that this section of Curry on the Corner would operate between 9am and 12am seven days a week, with licensing expected to be granted for the hours between 12pm and 12am.
Opening hours would be altered, over the course of time, to suit demand.
Plans were submitted to North Ayrshire Council on October 17, before being validated nearly one month later on November 14. They are currently pending consideration.
Plans can be viewed in full via the council's online planning portal, serching for reference 22/00806/PP.
