A NEW business has now opened up in Saltcoats, replacing the historic Gregor Watson store.
Gregor Watson closed after 100 years in the town as owner Peter Watson decided it was time to step away from the business.

But their premises at number one Dockhead Street did not remain empty for long, with a new business setting up shop last week.
Sofa Shack Ltd, what appears to be a branch of the 'Ayrshire Bed Company', have now taken over the store.
They describe themselves as a "friendly, local and reliable service" who also assemble the goods they provide "so that you don't have to".
The downstairs area of the shop is full of a range of different sofas, while the 'upstairs bed section' was also open as of Wednesday, December 7.
The store officially opened up on Monday December 5, though they have history trading in the local area.
The Ayrshire Bed Company previously opened a Three Towns store in Glebe Street in Stevenston. However, in June of 2020, the pandemic and flood damage to the building forced their doors closed
In August of that year, they announced: "Since the flooding and closure of the shop we've been working flat out to save the business and avoid going the route of so many others with closing down fully.
"It's been a tough slog but we're starting to see the light, with a little help from an excellent landlord we're potentially going to be able to get staff back to work.
"We've not had any luck since this covid nightmare began but there may now be some light at the end of the tunnel."
Following this, they began trading as the ABC Bed and Furniture Warehouse, also operating online as the Ayrshire Bed Company, and have been doing so ever since.
Their latest move takes them out of the warehouse and back onto the shop floor with the Sofa Shack in Saltcoats open Monday to Friday from 10am until 4pm.
