A DOG in the care of Ayrshire’s Scottish SPCA for almost two years has finally found his “forever home” in Dalry.
Big Z the Staffy was in the Ayr-based kennels for a total of 633 days – or one year and nine months – but has finally found a loving home with Michelle McHugh and her family.
Michelle said: “I just looked on the Scottish SPCA website and I noticed him, and I saw how long he’s been in the kennels for.
“Two years is far too long to be in there and looking at his wee pictures, I felt for him.
“I got him on January 16 – he’s been not too bad [at adjusting to the home] and the kids love him!”
He’s estimated to be between six to nine-years-old, but the fact he’s not a puppy doesn’t hinder him as the energetic Big Z loves walks, playtime, and being around people, according to the centre.
The pooch was “slowly and lovingly rehabilitated” by the centre during his stay there.
While Michelle and her family are happy to have found their perfect dog, the Scottish SPCA Ayrshire are just as happy that Big Z has found his home.
Centre manager, Lynda Hourston, said: “We are so delighted that our boy Big Z has been rehomed.
“Big Z was in our care for 633 days and yesterday he finally found his forever home with Michelle and her family.
“He is going to a loving home where we are sure he will be completely spoiled.
“They were all besotted with him from the very first meeting at our centre. Big Z clearly felt the same and loved going around every single family member to make sure they gave him all the attention he deserves.”
Each year, hundreds of adoptable animals come into the care of the Scottish SPCA branches throughout Scotland.
