A THREE Towns makeup artist has been named the best in her class in Scotland at the Scottish Make Up Awards.
Dawn Paterson Ross, a beautician at Therapy at the Registry in Saltcoats, won the national and regional 'semi-permanent makeup specialist of the year' prize at the ceremony.
The makeup artist from Ardrossan, who has been in the industry for over ten years, was over the moon after receiving the surprise nomination.
She said: “I’m on cloud nine! I just did not expect it.
“I’d heard in December that I was a finalist in the competition - apparently they scout your work and clients nominate you.
“I am so shy so I was like ‘oh my god’ when I was nominated, and then I had to put myself out there to clients and say to clients ‘I’m a finalist’ and get them to send feedback.
“It was absolutely worth it, and I can’t believe it.
“It’s been 10 years I’ve been doing this and just to be nominated I was really really chuffed but to actually win it was amazing.”
The winners were decided by industry experts and public votes, alongside ‘supporting evidence’ such as client feedback.
The Scottish Make Up Awards were launched in 2020 - though this year was only the second time an awards ceremony has been held, thanks to the impact of the Covid pandemic.
The ceremony was held at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on Sunday, February 19.
