A MAN is to stand trial later this year after denying sexually assaulting a young girl 10 years ago.
Alfie Stewart is accused of two charges involving the same girl, who was aged eight and nine-years-old when the alleged offences took place on various occasions between May 2012 and November 2013.
At Highfield Street in Kilwinning, Mr Stewart, now aged 27, is said to have sexually assaulted the youngster by intentionally causing her to participate in a sexual activity.
The charge claims that he exposed his genitals to the girl in a sexual manner with the intention that she would see them.
It adds that he induced the alleged victim to enter his bedroom, carried out a sex act on himself in her presence and induced her to carry out a sex act on him.
Mr Stewart also allegedly touched the girl's chest and private parts, removed her clothing, lay on top of her on a bed and rubbed his private parts against her body.
Court papers state that these acts were carried out "for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification or of humiliating, distressing or alarming" the girl.
A second charge alleges that Mr Stewart intentionally caused the young girl to view pornography.
Mr Stewart, of Wilson Street in Ayr, pleaded not guilty to both charges at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court and a trial was adjourned until June. His bail was continued meantime.
