North Ayrshire’s Ranger Service is hosting a fun day to thank the Armed Forces for funding a community group.
Their ‘Ground Force - Nurturing Heroes’ group is holding their Family Military Gala Day at the Scottish Maritime Museum on Saturday, March 25 between 11am and 3pm as their year of funding comes to an end.
The nursery tree group is held at Irvine’s Eglinton Community Gardens on Thursdays and supported by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund.
Councillor Jim Montgomerie, North Ayrshire’s veteran’s champion, said: “The Family Military Gala Day next weekend will be a great day out for friends and family to show their backing for the Armed Forces, find out more about volunteering opportunities locally and enjoy some hot food.”
The free day out will have stalls with information on volunteering, military groups, community organisations and green initiatives, family activities and crafting.
Visitors can also step inside a 15-tonne truck to take fun photos and meet the 251 (Ayrshire) Transport Squadron.
North Ayrshire Foodbank will provide free food from 12.30pm and visitors will gain free entry to the museum.
Councillor Alan Hill, cabinet member for communities and islands, added: “It is commendable that the Council’s Rangers Service has arranged this fabulous day out, and I hope as many people as possible head along to the Scottish Maritime Museum to show their support.”
