Police in West Kilbride are hunting a woman accused of assault after a dispute erupted over a dog off a lead.
The incident took place around 1:40pm on Friday March 31 in the car park near Portencross Castle.
A police spokesperson said: “The complainers were returning to their car which they had parked in the car park near to Portencross Castle.
“The complainers had two dogs each on leads and observed a larger dog approach, their dogs began to bark and attempt to break free as they were nervous of the larger dog circling them.
“The female suspect exited a nearby motor car and approached the complainers, it became apparent that the dog belonged to her.
“The complainer asked the suspect if she could get her dog on the leash and explained her dogs were nervous. The suspect made no effort to call her dog back or put it on a leash.
“After a short verbal disagreement, the suspect became very aggressive, squared up to the complainer and grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the ground assaulting her.”
Police say enquires into the incident are ongoing to trace the suspect in question.
