TO celebrate Eurovision, we asked the new OpenAI artificial intelligence programme to compose us a song - about Ardrossan.
The result - which only took a few minutes of 'bot time to compose - can be seen below.
We leave it to our readers to decide if this moving and heartfelt work is right up there with Abba's Waterloo ... or right down there with Jemini's legendary Cry Baby (a damning nul points in 2003).
The Song for Ardrossan begins:
Oh, Ardrossan, my dear old town
With its shores that stretch for miles around
The sea, the sand, the salty air
A place where life's troubles disappear
Chorus:
Ardrossan, Ardrossan, my heart's home
Where the sea and the sky meet as one
From Arran to Cumbrae, a view so grand
Ardrossan, my love for you will never end
Verse 2
The ferry's horn, the seagulls cry
The sound of waves as they crash by
The harbor lights that guide them in
Ardrossan, a place of beauty within
Chorus:
Ardrossan, Ardrossan, my heart's home
Where the sea and the sky meet as one
From Arran to Cumbrae, a view so grand
Ardrossan, my love for you will never end
Verse 3:
The castle ruins, a glimpse of the past
The marina boats, a sight to last
The train station, a gateway to explore
Ardrossan, a place I adore
Chorus:
Ardrossan, Ardrossan, my heart's home
Where the sea and the sky meet as one
From Arran to Cumbrae, a view so grand
Ardrossan, my love for you will never end
Verse 4:
The people, the culture, the community
The memories, the moments, the unity
Ardrossan, a town like no other
A place where I'll always be a lover
Chorus:
Ardrossan, Ardrossan, my heart's home
Where the sea and the sky meet as one
From Arran to Cumbrae, a view so grand
Ardrossan, my love for you will never end
Outro:
Oh, Ardrossan, my dear old town
With its shores that stretch for miles around
Ardrossan, Ardrossan, my heart's home
Ardrossan, Ardrossan, never alone.
That's all folks... but one final thought. The AI who wrote the lines:' The memories, the moments, the unity' has definitely never been out in Ardrossan after an Old Firm game...
