Two Cowal Open Studios artists currently taking part in the “Roots” exhibition at West Kilbride’s Barony Centre will be holding workshops on the weekend of June 3 and 4.

Paddy Allen will be sharing her knowledge of painting with watercolours on the Saturday (10am-4pm) in the “Roots and shoots and the joyful art of looking” workshop while wet felting expert Shirley Torrance will be holding her “Bloom where you are planted” workshop on the Sunday (10am-2pm).

Paddy, who became inspired by nature whilst growing up in rural Zimbabwe, said: “In the workshop I am hoping to lead people from initial observations to a finished painting using plants, flowers and objects from the sea. I will provide a simple demonstration of the basic techniques before we start.”

Shirley commented: “In my workshop I’ll be teaching the basics of wet felting using wool and silk fibres to create your very own flower blossom. All materials and tools will be included. No experience is necessary, just a sense of fun.”
