Three Ayrshire chippies and seafood eateries have been named among the best in Scotland at the first-ever Scottish Chippy Awards.
The fish and chips establishments were named in separate categories with each achieving an award for different factors.
A spokesperson for The 1st Scottish Chippy Awards 2023 said: “These awards recognise the up-and-coming stars in the Scottish fish and chip scene. They acknowledge the fish and chip shops that go above and beyond, providing outstanding dining experiences in addition to their fantastic food.
"With a warm and inviting ambience, excellent customer service, and a diverse menu that extends beyond fish and chips, the 2023 winners have captured the hearts and taste buds of their patrons."
Three Ayrshire chippies named among the best in Scotland at Scottish Chippy Awards 2023
The three Ayrshire chippies were the Melbourne Fry in Saltcoats, The Plaice To Be in Kilmarnock and Olympia Fish & Chips in Darvel.
The Melbourne Fry was awarded the Family Chippy of the Year and is well-loved by customers with a reviewer on Google saying: "Best chippy in the area, friendly staff offering great service - try the fish."
The Plaice To Be in Kilmarnock was named in the Best of Ayrshire award while Darvel-based Olympia Fish & Chips was titled the Fish & Chips Bar of the Year for the South West.
