EMERGENCY crews have rushed to Kilwinning following a crash on a busy slip road.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) have confirmed that one-vehicle was involved on a collision on the B779 road - which links Kilwinning and the southbound A78 between Stevenston and Irvine.
It follows reports of huge tailbacks on the road, with eyewitnesses claiming a car had flipped into the field next to the slip road.
Now, the SFRS have confirmed that they had to attend a crash in the area, where one casualty had to be placed in the care of paramedics.
A fire service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 3.03pm on Tuesday, June 27 to reports of a road traffic collision on the B779 near Nethermains Industrial Estate, involving one vehicle.
"Operations control mobilised two appliances to the scene where firefighters extricated one casualty from the vehicle before handing them into the care of paramedics.
“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
It is understood that both Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service were also in attendance.
Both have been approached for comment.
