THE North Ayrshire Heritage Centre has been at the centre of an attempted break-in.
Perpetrator(s) tried to gain entry to the popular and historic museum on Manse Street in Saltcoats.
It is understood that the attempted housebreaking took place between closing time on Monday, October 2, and opening the following day.
Police officers say that those responsible damaged the entrance lock of the premises with a brick - they failed in their attempts to obtain entry and later made off.
Now, they are looking for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or noted any suspicious activity nearby, to get in touch.
A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: "On Monday, October 2, 2023, an attempted housebreaking occurred at the North Ayrshire Heritage Museum, Manse Street, Saltcoats.
"The perpetator(s) damaged the entrance lock with a brick and, failing to gain entry, made off.
"If you were in the area between 5.15pm on Monday, October 2, and 9am on Tuesday, October 3, and saw, heard or captured dashcam footage pertinent to suspicious activity, please call 101, reference PS-20231003-0746."
