A NORTH Ayrshire town could have to go without its popular Christmas lights switch on event next year.
It comes as the people of Kilbirnie were warned that those behind organising the annual family event are in desperate need of assistance.
For a number of years now the switch on, as well the Santa's grotto, has been organised by the Kilbirnie Town Centre Management Initiative (KTCMI).
However, a plea made on its social media page made it clear that help is required if the events are to continue any longer than this year.
A group spokesperson said: "Due to the small, ageing committee of KTCMI we are appealing to anyone who could join our committee and assist with the tasks leading up to and on the day of the town light switch on, and the day after the event.
"We will be unable to continue with this event (after this year) if no-one can assist by joining the committee."
For those who are interested in getting involved, you can contact the KTCMI via Facebook at facebook.com/KilbirnieLights.
Alternatively you can ask for more information at the Cridgend Community Centre, where the group meets.
